ORIGINAL STORY:
Have you entered your game into our game jam with Buildbox yet? If not, then let us get you up to speed: we’re partnering with the no-code development platform to host a month-long game jam with the broad theme of ‘Hyper Casual’.
With entrants getting the chance to win a clutch of great prizes, including a potential publishing deal with Kwalee, we’ve been thrilled to see so many entrants already.
But crucially, with the deadline for entries not until 10th May, there is still plenty of time to enter your own hypercasual Buildbox creations!
What are the three key Hyper Casual principles?
If you need some inspiration, we’ve outlined our three key principles of Hyper Casual games over on the Buildbox YouTube channel too. But if you’d like the quick text version, keep reading!
Mass Appeal
This centres primarily around visuals and the importance of making a game that looks inviting to as many people as possible!
Bite-sized Gameplay
Remember that above all else, a hypercasual game needs to be satisfying in short sessions.
Short-term Stickiness
This final principle means that while a Hyper Casual game is only designed to be played in short sessions, it should still have ways to engage players and keep them coming back for more!
The video above offers more context on each of these principles which you can use to create chart-topping Hyper Casual games for millions of people around the globe.
Best of luck and we can’t wait to see all your amazing games! Please read more about and sign up to the game jam to participate.
